Health Promotion Program
Taking charge of your health during your senior years is important. Research has proven that seniors who stay active, make good nutritional choices, and stay focused on health management are happier, have less pain and anxiety, and live longer and more fulfilled lives.

Title IIID of the Older Americans Act provides federal funding for evidence-based health promotion and disease prevention education programs for seniors. A variety of these programs are offered in the Bluegrass region at senior centers and other locations throughout the year. All courses and programs are free to participants aged 60 and over. Chronic Disease Self Management Program
This interactive course was developed by researchers at Stanford University and covers a wide range of health topics related to chronic disease management in a series of modules that include exercise tips, relaxation techniques, better sleep, medication management, decision-making, healthcare management, and nutrition.
Tai Chi for Arthritis
This popular program was developed by Dr. Paul Lam and incorporates movements and exercises from ancient martial arts into an effective program for arthritis management.
Bingocize
This program, developed by Western Kentucky University professor Dr. Jason Crandall, incorporates exercise moves into the classic game of Bingo.
Stay Active & Independent for Life (SAIL)
SAIL, developed at the Washington State Department of Health by renowned physical therapists Anne Shumway-Cook and Clare Morrison, is a strength, balance, and fitness program for adults 60 and older.
Walk With Ease
​The Arthritis Foundation Walk With Ease Program is a community-based physical activity and self-management education program. While walking is the central activity, Walk With Ease is a multi-component program that also includes health education, stretching and strengthening exercises, and motivational strategies.
Matter of Balance
Matter of Balance is an award-winning, evidence-based program designed to reduce the fear of falling and increase the activity levels of older adults who have concerns about falls.
Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP)
The Diabetes Prevention Program is a CDC recognized course series that seeks to prevent Type 2 Diabetes in at-risk individuals.
